What does Kate Lockhart recommend when it comes to preferences?
Kate is running as a true Community Independent – with integrity, transparency, and respect for voters' ability to make informed decisions.
She is not doing preference deals with other parties. She believes every voter should decide for themselves who best represents their values, after giving her their first preference if they support her.
As Kate explained in a recent radio interview:
“I can’t in good conscience tell anyone how to vote. That’s the whole reason I’m running – to encourage informed, values-based voting. I’m not here to do backroom deals. If elected, every vote I cast in Parliament will be a conscious vote, based on what's right for the community – not party politics.”
That means Kate may not issue a "how to vote" card at all. If she does, it will only suggest a first preference for her and encourage voters to make up their own minds beyond that.
In short: No preference deals. No party pressure. Just genuine, independent representation.
