Community Independent candidate Kate Lockhart is hitting the ground running, actively engaging with communities across the electorate. With a packed schedule of events, she is making it clear that she is ready to listen and lead.

One key event on the horizon is a community screening of Climate 200’s documentary, ‘No Safe Seat’, narrated by Julia Zemiro. The screening will take place at Uniting Church Queenscliff on Thursday, 27 March 2025, at 7:30 pm, followed by a discussion with Ms Lockhart.

Climate 200, founded by Simon Holmes à Court, played a pivotal role in supporting seven of the 11 successful Community Independent candidates in the last federal election. This time, they are backing more than 20 of the 38 candidates running, as momentum for integrity, climate action, and real representation grows.

"The rise of Community Independents makes this an exciting time in Australian politics," Ms Lockhart said.

"People want transparency and integrity at all levels of government. They’re tired of the major parties putting politics before the public good."

Ms Lockhart previously ran in the Geelong City Council elections and was recently selected as the preferred candidate by Voices of Corangamite, a local grassroots group dedicated to political renewal.

"Kate was a standout," said Mik Aidt, co-founder of Voices of Corangamite. "She’s a scientist who understands the climate crisis, a mum who cares deeply about the future, and a community organiser who gets things done."

In addition to the Queenscliff event, Ms Lockhart will be speaking at similar events in Leopold, Torquay and other towns. She will also be meeting locals and handing out flyers in Point Lonsdale on Sunday, 23 March 2025, near the IGA supermarket. Check her website for details, www.katelockhart.au.
